Movement Arts of Chico 501(c)3

We are a group of artists, teachers, dancers and healers. We have established our group, Movement Arts of Chico as a non-profit organization in January of 2022.

Our mission is simple: to support the growing arts culture in Chico. We do this by organizing art shows, music, film and dance events and hosting a variety of classes. We aim to create greater accessibility of the arts, especially for youth in our community.

All of our endeavors at the MA go directly into maintaining and running beautiful space. We are located in downtown Chico, just steps away from the Saturday Farmer's Market and have ample parking on all sides of the building. Our interior includes raised laminate flooring, two bathrooms (one ADA compliant) three large portable mirrors, four sets of benches, 20 chairs, three large tables, evening lighting, and a large bluetooth speaker. Rental of the space offers garbage/recycle cans and bathroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.

If you are interested in offering a class in our space, please contact us. We directly lease out the use of the space using the rental schedule listed below. We also offer support for particular classes or special events with promotion in our downtown location and through social media.

Renting our Space

Renting Schedule

Week Rates:
$ 30 /1.5 hrs of morning classes (M-F 7am-4:30 pm)
$ 35 /1.5 hrs for an ongoing event/class on weekday evenings (M-Th after 4:30 pm)
$ 45 /1.5 hrs for an single event/class on weekday evenings (M-Th after 4:30 pm)
Weekend Daily Rates:
$ 50 /1.5 hrs for ongoing event/class on weekends (Sa & Su before 4:30 pm)
$ 55 /1.5 hrs for single event/class on weekends (Sa & Su before 4:30 pm)
Weekend Evening Rates:
$ 65 /1.5hrs ongoing (weekly) event/class on weekend nights (Fri & Su after 4:30 pm)
$100 /1.5hrs single event/class, weekend nights (Fri & Su after 4:30 pm)
$300/ single half day events (8 am-4 pm & 4 pm-10 pm) + $50 Cleaning Fee.

Payment

Checks shall be made out to “Movement Arts of Chico.” All payments can be dropped in the back door slot in an envelope with name and amount of payment. Payment for an ongoing class/event is due and payable by the first class of first week. Rent is considered late 7 days after first class and a $25 late fee is applied.

If renting for a single event, half of the total amount will be paid as a deposit.

Deposit

A $50 deposit shall be held as security for rented time; this is to cover the return of key, and cleaning and/or repair of any damage to the Premises by Renter or its customers, students, or invitees. The deposit shall be returned to Renter within 30 days of the termination of this Agreement, minus any rent still owed to Owner and minus any amount needed to repair or clean the Premises, beyond normal wear and tear. The Renter shall be notified in writing (including email) if a charge is claimed against the deposit.

Keys Renter shall not make copies of its key or allow others to use it.

Cleaning

Renter is responsible for leaving premises (large room and bathrooms) in the clean condition that it was found in. Renter agrees to use the facility in a respectful manner, as follows:

Wood floors are to be swept after use
Turn off the stereo and lights, and lock the facility before leaving.
Return the thermostat to normal setting (which is OFF)
Remove any perishable food and beverage from the premises

Renter Responsibilities

Renter shall be financially responsible for any damage caused to Premises by Renter or any customers, students, or invitees of Renter. Further, the Renter agrees to fully indemnify the Owner for any damage to or loss of the property during the term of this Agreement, unless such loss or damage is caused by a defect of the Premises. It is Renter’s sole responsibility to obtain from each customer, student, or invitee, a document waiving and releasing Owner from any claim made by a customer, student, or invitee for injury or damage while present in the Premises. Renter is responsible for the safety and well being of all people during the time they are in the Premises and shall indemnify, hold harmless, and defend Owner from any claim, loss, or liability arising out of any activity of Renter, or any customers, students, or invitees of Renter on the Premises. Renter shall carry its own liability insurance and shall name Owner (Movement Arts of Chico) as an additional insured on such policy. Renter may not assign or transfer any rights under this Agreement to any other person, nor allow the Premises to be used by any other person, without the written consent of the Owner.

Owner Responsibilities Owner shall not be responsible for any personal property of Renter or any customers, students, or invitees of Renter left in the Premises. Owner shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused by any use of the Premises.

Rezerve right to amend schedule and cancel contract Movement Arts of Chico reserves the right to change schedule if needed and will prorate the renter the amount for the class. Owner reserves the right to cancel the contract if any of the above mentioned agreements are not kept; such as leaving the doors unlocked.

No refund shall be granted.
